I need you to imagine a train. The train is old, it’s been on thousands of journey’s, with millions of people and a hundred thousand stories are buried deep in the woven fabric of the old dusty brown seats.

The windows have faded finger prints, each original and unique to that one person who reached out and pressed into that glass. There are scratches on the few ancient tables that have somehow survived, random marks and chiseled letters engraved, even initials of loved ones or maybe just partners in crime.

On this train is a trail of thoughts, words, and conversations, all important and irreplaceable to that person sitting right where you’re sitting now. Not only in the seat you’re sitting in though, in that other bench, yes, that one way over there by that grubby timeworn window lays a life changing the moment that you weren’t involved in, but still it happened.

Right here was the best moment of someone’s life, the moment everything was good, but not only that— it was amazing. It was where someone realized that there was hope, that there was something worth living for. It was exactly what they needed. However, don’t let that fool you because also right here was another person’s worst moment. It was that moment—pressing their fingers to the glass—that they gave up. It was where they felt like everyone wanted something from them and they couldn’t give it, where they felt disappointed in all those who’d betrayed them and just let them be. It wasn’t what they needed.

I’ll leave you with your imagination and thoughts as for what the rest of those instances were but trust me when I say they happened. All of them.

Now, I need you to remember the train again, an old steam-engine hurtling its way towards the planned endpoint. The paint is faded and chipped and the once bright steam-engine has now become a worn and old, but still it will arrive at its destination without fail. It might be a little later than usual, or maybe even early, but eventually it will reach its journey’s end.

Ultimately all moments have to end but that doesn’t make them non-existent or not important, the point is that they’ve completed. It shows they had a start, middle and an end.

The makings of the perfect story; a story we all have but yet to tell.
